Wales’s 30 man Rugby World Cup squad was announced this afternoon with a surprise omission for the 99 times capped Martyn Williams. 22-year-old flanker Sam Warburton leads the side, due to Matthew Rees’s injury lay off. But there is room for prop Gethin Jenkins, despite him not having played since January.

Wales had mixed results from the warm-up matches, losing to England at Twickenham but then beating England and Argentina at the Millennium Stadium. They also lost backs Morgan Stoddart and Gavin Henson through injury following those matches.

They start of their campaign in the tricky Pool D with their match against current World Champions South Africa on Sunday 11th September in Wellington, kick off at 9.30am

Fiji Rugby World Cup 2011
The national rugby team from Fiji will arrive at the 2011 Rugby World Cup as the favourites from the South Pacific rugby teams to advance to the knock out stages of the RWC. Fiji has embarked on a period of development to improve the quality of their rugby, and is hoping to best the team’s excellent inaugural 1987 Rugby World Cup performance, where they advanced to the quarter finals before losing to France.

Fiji again qualified for the 2007 Rugby World Cup quarter finals, beating Wales in a one of the best games of the competition before losing to South Africa, who would go on to lift the William Webb Ellis Cup that year.
Coached by Illivasi Tabua, Fiji boasts some of the strongest and quickest rugby players in the world, and have worked hard over the past few years to keep their game structured and disciplined. The team from Fiji, who are currently ranked 10th in the IRB rankings, will be a force to be reckoned with at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, and it is hoped they will build on previous Rugby World Cup experience to progress through to the semi-finals.
RWC 2011 will see Fiji drawn in pool D with South Africa, Wales, Samoa and Namibia. Fiji’s opening Rugby World Cup game will be against Namibia in Rotorua on the 10th September, followed by South Africa in Wellington on the 17th September, Samoa in Auckland on the 25th September, and Wales in Hamilton on the 2nd October.

Fiji will train at five New Zealand locations during Rugby World Cup 2011, the 5th – 8th and 26th – 30th September in Tauranga, 9th – 10th September in Rotorua, 11th - 17th September in Wellington, 18th - 25th September in Auckland, and 1st – 2nd October in Hamilton.
